-Run ProTools sessions - Recording voiceovers, sound design, edit and mix - mostly sound to picture but often radio, spotify / online content too. Largely short form commercial mixing, but some longform voice work too.
-Help with the technical maintenance of the facility.
-Interact with clients and host client attended recording sessions.
-Use the Source Connect and Cleanfeed systems to record voice overs and monitor remotely.
-Deliver files to the team and to clients.
-Operate ADR sessions - or a grounding with a willingness to learn ADR techniques.
-Contribute to the wider day-to- day running of the facilities – technical improvements, helping runners, Transfer etc.
-Share tips and tricks with other engineers - no matter how long we’ve been doing this, we’re always learning!
-Diligently record session details in our session logging system.
-Attend occasional out of hours meetings, including the monthly engineers meeting.
This is not an exhaustive list, related tasks will be expected of you, and of course as the role and the company develops, day to day tasks will develop too.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
-At least 3 years experience of client-attended Audio Post sessions.
-An extensive, confident knowledge of the ProTools software platform.
-Good working knowledge of RX Izotope, Source Connect, Skype, EdiPrompt and other related audio software.
-A good understanding of video in ProTools and Quicktime, including video formats and creating basic WIP files for clients.
-Full confidence with voice over recording, including with multiple voices and ‘down the line’ recording, plus tracklaying, sound design, editing audio, internal bouncing and creating stem files (M&Es etc) as requested.
-Confident in video frame rates, R128, LUFS and other tech specs and deliverables.
-A good knowledge of 5.1 mixing within ProTools, ideally an understanding of cinema / DOlby deliverables.
-Enthusiasm and constant willingness to learn from all other staff members
-Adapt to any standard practices the company requires like ProTools session templates
-At all times be polite, helpful and proactive.
-Not be afraid to roll your sleeves up and help out with anything required of you.
-Have a positive, can-do attitude.
-Good organization and time management.
-Due to ever-changing Covid-19 restrictions, you must be flexible to work from both the studio facility or a home setup with short notice. (We can aid with the setup of a remote system where needed).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
-A thorough knowledge of ProTools is a must – you will be tested on this as part of the interview process – including knowledge of EQ, Compression, searching for sounds, and how to treat voice files. You will also recognise when something sounds good and when it doesn't.
-Other software has been mentioned throughout this doc - the list is not exhaustive.
-You could be someone who's worked as a freelancer for a while, or in house at another Post House. A degree is not a prerequisite, but the industry experience and running client attended sessions is a must
-Attention to detail is key, being organised is paramount.
-Great communication skills, with good email and phone-manner are important.
HOURS
9am – 6pm Monday to Friday. However you will often be required to be flexible time wise (detailed in T&Cs prior to contract). The bookings team always try to make up time and there are systems and provisions in place for significant out of hours work we mutually agree to do.
Occasional monthly team and company wide meetings and get-togethers (when permissible!) will be required too out of hours. Christmas parties, summer parties, team outings and general socialising are an important part of what we do.
SALARY AND PROBATION
-Starting salary: £38,000+ Negotiable. Depending on experience
-Probation period: 3 months extendable to 6 months at company discretion.
