Directing from overseas - what did we do before broadband?!
We've had the pleasure to work with some great US based publishers this summer and have kitted out 2 of our audiobook suites with integrated Skype setups. This alongside our 3 ISDN rigs means we can dial into directors from across the globe, with video link if necessary.
With the increasingly busy schedules of voice actors and producers, being able to direct remotely is a blessing... All you need is an internet connection and of course one of our superb engineers to ensure that the recording is perfect.
With the engineer talkback being sent down the line and the Skype or ISDN feed being routed into the reader's headphones, it really is like being in the room!
So, why not think about directing your next book from home... Or the poolside bar : )
Exciting times: SNK merges with Red Apple Creative!
NK Studios is delighted to announce the recent merger with production company Red Apple Creative, who we've already been producing Audiobooks with for the past three years.
The formal partnership now offers clients a rich production opportunity with four lovely studios, voice-casters, producers, engineers and editors all under the one Central London roof - on sunny Tottenham Court Road!
We think we've created a pretty special end-to-end Audiobook service, something London desperately needed. Dare we say it, it also happens to be run by a very friendly, extremely talented team! SNK company Director Seb Juviler, comments: “We already have one of the best recording facilities in London, now we’re making things simpler for our clients and cementing our position as the go-to place for everything Audiobook related.”
So, whoever you speak with here, whether it's Red Apple or SNK Studios, we're now all part of the same, happy family!
When we heard that Nissan's GT-R supercar stand at the worlds largest motoring garden party needed some pumping breakbeat and roaring car sounds, we were happy to oblige! Our friends at JB3 Creative created the lush visuals for the interactive race experience that played on giant screens all weekend, it pits a member of the public in a three way race against Usain Bolt and the GT-R! The picture was accompanied by our specially designed 4 channel 'quad' sound.
We're happy for our lovely clients at Woods Film who won no less than three highly acclaimed IVCA Awards last week! The hat-trick of a Gold, Silver & Bronze prizes were for the 'BASICS Multivoice' film for Vocality, for which we just so happened to provide all the audio post and creative sound design!
Shot over a two-week period Rhiannon Evans joined us as animator, using sets crafted by Henry Jones. VFX and motion graphics were undertaken by Steve Turner. Voice over was the legendary Ray Brooks.
Director Jay Woods was delighted with the awards, commenting “It’s always exciting to answer a brief with creative that pushes the envelope a bit. Where some see risk, others see opportunity. Gladly for us, Julian and Vocality sit squarely in the latter camp.”
We're tremendously excited that the 2013 Music & Sound Awards are nearly upon us (Feb 21st @ Troxy in Central London) and once again, SNK Studios are finalists! Having won one of the delightful glossy black moulds last year for our Sound Design for the Welsh Rugby Union, this year we're stoked that it's our music efforts being recognised in the 'Best Original Composition' section. Our Canon 'Legria' spot in the Trailers & Promos category (with visuals from the brilliant animators at Mainframe) is up against four other equally lovely pieces! We'll be there on the night calming our nerves with a few beers, so watch this space...
Music arrangement & production for corporate fundraising campaign.
This year we had had the pleasure of working with our friends at Knifedge on this year's Crisis Christmas Card, an e-card package that corporations buy to raise money for Crisis.
Eight different Crisis members performed their own renditions of classic Christmas songs, including "White Christmas", "Silent Night" and "I Believe in Father Christmas". Here at SNK we recorded and produced full musical arrangemnets around their fantastic vocal performances, before of the eight Crisis members were then filmed in a Christmassy location performing their song again, allowing Knifedge to create a pop music video for each of them.
SNK director Kayvan Moghaddassi had this to say:
"This project was something I was particularly enthusiastic about working on, as I've been a volunteer at Crisis Christmas for six years now and I've seen first hand how the fantastic work which Crisis does can have such a positive impact on the lives of the individuals it helps. Whilst striving to transform the lives of homeless people and campaigning for change to prevent individuals becoming homeless in the first place, Crisis relys on donors to fund the work they do. I'm looking forward to seeing this campaign reach its fundraising target."
So far, the campaign has raised nearly £500,000 of its target of £600,000.
Original music, sound design, VO recording & broadcast mix for the latest Dominos TV commercial.
Once again we teamed up with director Guy Soulsby and producer Amanda Lowit, this time to piece together all of the audio for Big Communications epic new TV commercial to promote the new Dominos Pizza movies service.
The ad follows a dominos pizza on its' journey through a variety of film genres; a classic western, a 70s cop car scene, a spaceship invasion, a swat team arriving and finally the pizza is delivered by an alien craft!
We had great fun creating the music & sound design to set the scene for each film genre - check out the completed video below!
More Dominos Sound Design and Audio Post this month in the form of their 'Service' TV ad for the Gourmet range.
The close up footage needed to be matched with some big creative sound design - giving a small piece of feta some serious depth! They're always good fun to work on and a lovely team of people too, so thanks to everyone at Big Communications, Fresh Productions, Producer Amanda Lowit and Director Richard Pullar.
